Women’s Shelter Armidale can provide you and your family with safe, supported, temporary accommodation while we help you find longer-term housing. Accommodation may be provided at the Shelter or, in some circumstances, we can organise accommodation for you at a different, safe venue. Contact one of our dedicated and skilled Support Workers, any time of the day or night on 02 67725352 or 1800005352, for an assessment of your needs.
… Where can Crisis Accommodation be provided?
Normally WSA crisis accommodation is at the “Shelter”, a large home that can house five families, but in some cases a caravan or motel room is provided instead.
If you live away from Armidale city, WSA can organise and pay for accommodation close to where you are now. Alternatively, transport may be arranged to bring you to the “Shelter” if this is safer or preferable.
… Does WSA charge residents for accommodation?
Yes. Clients housed by the Women’s Shelter pay a bond and rent. The rent and bond amounts are paid weekly. The weekly rent is based on income and the clients individual needs will be assessed. Wherever possible rent and bond is paid through Centrepay deductions.
The bond is returned to the resident when she leaves her room as she found it and returns the keys. Occasionally a resident may cause damage to the house and, in these situations, the Women’s Shelter reserves the right to deduct the cost of repairs from the bond.
House Rules for Residents
