Women’s Shelter Armidale can provide you and your family with safe, supported, temporary accommodation while we help you find longer-term housing. Accommodation may be provided at the Shelter or, in some circumstances, we can organise accommodation for you at a different, safe venue. Contact one of our dedicated and skilled Support Workers, any time of the day or night on 02 67725352 or 1800005352, for an assessment of your needs.
Normally WSA crisis accommodation is at the “Shelter”, a large home that can house five families, but in some cases a caravan or motel room is provided instead.
If you live away from Armidale city, WSA can organise and pay for accommodation close to where you are now. Alternatively, transport may be arranged to bring you to the “Shelter” if this is safer or preferable.
Yes. Clients housed by the Women’s Shelter pay a bond and an occupancy fee. The occupancy fee and bond amounts are paid weekly. The weekly occupancy fee is based on income and the clients individual needs will be assessed. Wherever possible occupancy fee and bond is paid through Centrepay deductions.
The bond is returned to the resident when she leaves her room as she found it and returns the keys. Occasionally a resident may cause damage to the house and, in these situations, the Women’s Shelter reserves the right to deduct the cost of repairs from the bond.
Residents are required to contribute to the safety and comfort of the “Shelter” environment by obeying the House Rules which include –
1) contributing daily to the cleaning of the house and
2) paying their occupancy fee and bond.
3) Keeping the house the House Rules for Residents.
